Please note: Activities/Programming were suspended in spring 2020 and again in spring 2021 due to Covid-19 restrictions in Manitoba. We plan to resume activities in Fall 2021 in a modified way but please know that, due to the ever changing Public Health Guidelines/Orders, we may need to make modifications or even suspend the program on very short notice. We will keep our families updated as soon as information is available.

WHAT IS FALL BALL?
In order to provide programming for players throughout the year, Manitoba Challenger Baseball has introduced an additional opportunity for MORE BASEBALL in an additional season comprised of 6 weeks of FUN!!! The format will remain the same as our Spring programming and we will attempt to keep teams the same if possible.
Players do not have to be registered in Spring programming to participate. This opens the door for players who could not join us in Spring to get involved.

Please note: in 2021, due to Covid-19 and the suspension of activities in May, Fall Ball will also serve as our Manitoba Challenger Baseball RESTART. Players registered for Spring programming are automatically registered for Fall Ball (unless they indicate otherwise).

SESSION STRUCTURE

Please note: Playing a game is fun in itself - and it is what the players expect when they sign up to play, but skills should be taught to maximize the potential of reaching personal goals AND fun!! Therefore, 30 minutes of the timeslot is for warm-up/skills & drills and the rest of the timeslot will be spent playing the game of Baseball!!!

FUN WELCOME & WARM UP ACTIVITIES (5 minutes)
Coaches will introduce the session's goals and lead their team through activities designed to be fun, achieve focus and gets the heart pumping. SKILL FUNDAMENTALS (5 minutes) Coaches will go over a variety of skills throughout the season. This may include batting, catching, movement (walking/running/riding), team effort, etc. SKILL DEVELOPMENT (20 minutes) Focusing on the skill learned during the Fundamentals section, players will put their knowledge to use during carefully selected FUN activities! Generally, they will rotate through 2-3 stations during this time period. BASEBALL GAME (30 minutes) Isn't this what we are here for?? Teams will play a traditional game of non-competitive baseball. Due to time constraints, this will be limited to 2-3 innings. There is no time applied to this as every team's session will be different and signals the end of the day's activities. |
OTHER INFORMATION
2021 FEES
For 2021, all players will be required to provide a $25.00 registration fee. Registration fees should be paid by the first scheduled session and can be paid via E-Transfer, Cheque, Cash or Credit Card (additional fee applies).
In the past, all players provided a $50.00 refundable Volunteer/Fundraising Bond in lieu of registration fees (or a $50.00 opt out fee) along with a $50 Jersey deposit. However, in 2021, we feel that the Volunteer and Fundraising Bond program and distribution of returnable Jerseys is not feasible. We hope that you understand and that you will join us in keeping Challenger Baseball affordable for all families by continuing to participate in Fundraising Opportunities!
BUDDIES
Buddies are responsible for keeping the player engaged and safe, generally assisting the player with all aspects of participation. Please see our BUDDIES page for more information.
Please note: In the past, divisions partner with various mainstream baseball teams and other volunteer organizations to provide this valuable mentorship program. However, for the 2021 season, in order to reduce the size of each cohort, Buddies will not be arranged as we normally have. We are asking Challenger players to provide a Buddy from their family's "bubble". Buddies must be designated and we will be sending a registration form to each buddy to ensure that we have proper information for contact tracing & also that they sign our participation waiver.

Please remember, this year is like any other and we are working extremely hard in the background to make sure all players are able to come back to Challenger Baseball safely. Please have patience as we navigate these waters. Our website will be updated as information comes available. Further to that, questions should be directed towards your Division Coordinator or the Provincial Coordinator.

- WHAT DO FEES INCLUDE? Players will be given a numbered Jersey, a hat, a mask and we are working to put together a kit that would make playing on the field and at home feasible and safe. Fees also cover administrative costs such as insurance, affiliation fees, field fees, etc.
