VIRTUAL CHALLENGER
In an effort to provide more skill development and goal achieving opportunities, in the past, optional scheduled practices (called Skill Development Sessions) have been scheduled for Wednesday evenings at various locations on a week-to-week Sign-Up basis. In 2021, these sessions will be held primarily online and the focus of our Virtual Challenger program.
We understand that virtual anything gets a bad rap. We see the struggles participants of all ages and abilities face and are working very hard to ensure that Manitoba Challenger Baseball's program is engaging, fun AND flexible with a variety of activities accessible by all players. Our program will be unique in the fact that virtual participants will have the option to log in to our LIVE Virtual Challenger program or at their convenience to complete various activities at their own leisure and pace. This is still a work in progress and more details will be available closer to season start.
LIVE ZOOM MEETINGS
Players will be invited to participate in a live zoom meeting jam packed with tons of activities that will get players up and moving, practicing their baseball skills and socializing with their coaches, teammates and buddies! Live Sessions will be starting the week of May 1 and will be held on Wednesday evenings until the last week in June. Players can either log in to our live session or complete activities at their own leisure/pace. The sessions will last approximately 45 minutes and will follow the below structure:

WEEKLY CHALLENGES
In addition to the Live Zoom Sessions, all activities done in the actual live session will be uploaded to our website and also to the Flipgrid app. Players are challenged to complete various activities and post videos of them doing so (if they wish). This also allows players who may not have had the opportunity to attend our live session for whatever reason to participate at their own leisure. For each activity completed, players are entered into a draw for a super special prize pack to be awarded during our Virtual Wind Up Event.

FEES
For the 2021 season, all players will be required to provide a $25.00 registration fee regardless of their mode of participation. Registration fees should be paid by the Season Opener Event (First week in May - dates TBD) and can be paid via E-Transfer, Cheque, Cash or Credit Card (additional fee applies).
In the past, all players provided a $50.00 refundable Volunteer/Fundraising Bond in lieu of registration fees (or a $50.00 opt out fee) along with a $50 Jersey deposit. However, in 2021, we feel that the Volunteer and Fundraising Bond program and distribution of returnable Jerseys is not feasible. We hope that you understand and that you will join us in keeping Challenger Baseball affordable for all families by continuing to participate in Fundraising Opportunities!
WHAT DO FEES INCLUDE?
Players will be given a numbered Jersey, a hat, a mask and an expansive equipment kit that would make playing baseball both on the field and at home feasible and safe. Fees also cover administrative costs such as insurance, affiliation fees, field fees, etc.
WHAT DO PLAYERS NEED TO PROVIDE?
At minimum, players should have access to a stable internet connection that is capable of viewing videos, downloading and/or uploading photos and PDFs. They will also require a space to play - this might be your living room, but we suggest your yard or a safe park with lots of room to run and hit balls.
